Der Campus Bockenheim ist seit vielen Jahren im Übergang. Früher war er ein lebendiger Universitätsstandort und eng mit dem Stadtteil verbunden. Seit Ende der 1990er Jahren stehen immer mehr Gebäude leer. Es war lange unklar, wie der Campus in Zukunft genutzt werden kann. Die Ausstellung schaut sich genau diesen Schwebezustand an. Und sie wirft einen Blick darauf, was darin entsteht: ein sozialer und politischer Raum, in dem viele Menschen um verschiedene Zukunftsideen kämpfen.
Auf 14 Tafeln zeigt die Ausstellung "Leerstand und Utopien. Die Kämpfe um den Campus Bockenheim" Fotos, Pläne, Texte und Interviews. Sie erzählt die Geschichten und Kämpfe von Initiativen und Aktivist:innen, die den Campus nutzen oder nutzen wollen. Es geht um den Konflikt zwischen solidarischen Zwischennutzungen und gewinnorientiertem Ausverkauf. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Initiativen und die Gebäude, die sie nutzen oder für die sie kämpfen.

The Bockenheim campus has been in transition for many years. It used to be a lively university campus and was closely connected to the neighborhood. Since the late 1990s, more and more buildings have fallen vacant. For many years, it was unclear how the campus would be used in the future. The exhibition takes a close look at this state of limbo. And it takes a look at what is emerging there: a social and political space in which many people are fighting for different ideas about the future.
The exhibition “Vacancy and Utopias: The Struggles for the Bockenheim Campus” presents photos, plans, texts, and interviews on 14 panels. It tells the stories and struggles of initiatives and activists who use or want to use the campus. It is about the conflict between solidarity-based temporary use and profit-oriented sell-off. The focus is on the initiatives and the buildings they use or fight for.
