Die absurde fossile Rückwärtsrolle von Wirtschaftsministerin Katherina Reiche gefährdet nicht nur die ohnehin unzureichenden Klimaziele Deutschlands – sie macht uns auch abhängig von autokratischen Regimen und droht die Energiekosten für viele Menschen noch weiter in die Höhe zu treiben.
Die neuen Gaskraftwerke sollen auch zur Stromversorgung von KI-Rechenzentren dienen. Fossile Konzerne wie RWE, EPH, Uniper, EnBW und Siemens Energy freuen sich, denn sie lobbyieren mit Verweis auf den Hype um generative KI schon länger genau dafür. Denn für sie ist der staatlich subventionierte Ausbau fossiler Infrastruktur profitabel und risikoarm zugleich.
Wir sollten uns solches Abschöpfen fossiler Profite auf Kosten von Klima und Umwelt nicht gefallen lassen – und uns JETZT gegen neue, klimaschädliche Gasprojekte sowie unnötige Rechenzentren und für eine dezentrale sozial-ökologische Transformation organisieren! :::: The absurd, regressive stance on fossil fuels taken by Economy Minister Katherina Reiche not only jeopardizes Germany’s already inadequate climate targets—it also makes us dependent on autocratic regimes and threatens to drive energy costs even higher for many people.
The new gas-fired power plants are also intended to supply electricity to AI data centers. Fossil fuel corporations like RWE, EPH, Uniper, EnBW, and Siemens Energy are delighted, as they have long been lobbying for exactly this, citing the hype surrounding generative AI. For them, the state-subsidized expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure is both profitable and low-risk.
We should not tolerate this skimming of fossil fuel profits at the expense of the climate and the environment—and we must organize NOW against new, climate-damaging gas projects and unnecessary data centers, and in favor of a decentralized socio-ecological transformation!
Im Workshop wollen wir gemeinsam darauf blicken, welche fossilen Infrastrukturvorhaben (siehe „Gemeinsam-Gegen-Gas“-Karte: https://gemeinsam-gegen-gas.de/) und Rechenzentren fossile Konzerne, Big Tech und die Bundesregierung gerade in Deutschland vorantreiben. Dann wollen wir überlegen, wie wir dagegen Widerstand leisten können und wie ein gutes Leben und eine gute Energie- und IT-Infrastruktur für alle aussehen könnte. :::: In this workshop, we want to take a look together at which fossil fuel infrastructure projects (see the “Gemeinsam-Gegen-Gas” map: https://gemeinsam-gegen-gas.de/) and data centers fossil fuel corporations, Big Tech, and the German federal government are currently pushing forward in Germany. Then we’ll consider how we can resist these projects and what a good life—along with a good energy and IT infrastructure—might look like for everyone.
