Die Klimakrise ist Ausdruck zerstörter Beziehungen: zwischen Globalem Norden und Globalem Süden, zwischen Menschen und Natur und zwischen historischer Verantwortung und gegenwärtigen Machtverhältnissen. Gemeinschaften, die am wenigsten zur Klimakrise beigetragen haben, tragen die schwersten Folgen, während Staaten und Konzerne im Globalen Norden bis heute von kolonialen und fossilen Ausbeutungsverhältnissen profitieren.
Klimareparationen sind deshalb mehr als finanzielle Entschädigungen. Sie eröffnen eine Perspektive darauf, wie globale Beziehungen auf Verantwortung, Solidarität und gegenseitiger Fürsorge statt auf Ausbeutung und Ungleichheit aufgebaut werden können. Sie fragen nicht nur, wie Schäden ausgeglichen werden, sondern auch, welche Beziehungen wir zueinander schaffen wollen.
In diesem interaktiven Workshop nähern wir uns Klimareparationen als dekolonialem und transformativen Konzept. Gemeinsam diskutieren wir, warum Klimareparationen ein zentraler Baustein von Klimagerechtigkeit sind und welche Rolle sie für einen grundlegenden Systemwandel spielen können. Dabei wollen wir gemeinsam erkunden: Können Klimareparationen ein Werkzeug sein, um globale Beziehungsweisen zu revolutionieren? :::: The climate crisis is a crisis of broken relationships: between the Global North and the Global South, between people and nature, and between historical responsibility and present-day power. Communities that have contributed the least to the climate crisis are bearing its most severe impacts, while states and corporations in the Global North continue to benefit from colonial and fossil-fuel-based systems of extraction.
Climate reparations are about more than financial compensation. They offer a way of reimagining global relationships based on responsibility, solidarity, and mutual care instead of exploitation and inequality. They ask not only how harms can be repaired, but also what kinds of relationships we want to build with one another.
In this interactive workshop, we will explore climate reparations as a decolonial and transformative framework. Together, we will discuss why climate reparations are a key pillar of climate justice and what role they can play in achieving systemic change. We will ask: Can climate reparations become a tool for revolutionizing global relations?
Wir arbeiten als Konzeptwerk schon seit über zwei Jahren zu Klimareparationen und sehen sie als intersektionales Werkzeug für eine global gerechte Transformation unserer Wirtschafts- und Beziehungsweisen. Da der Diskurs in Deutschland noch relativ in den Babyschuhen steckt, geben wir erstmal einen Input zu Klimareparationen und öffnen dann Diskussionsräume zu unseren von Autor*innen aus dem Globalen Süden geschriebenen Factsheets. Since the discourse on this topic is still in its infancy in Germany, we’ll start by providing some background on climate reparations and then open up spaces for discussion based on our fact sheets, written by authors from the Global South.
