The climate crisis is happening right now. The cement industry accounts for about 8% of global CO₂ emissions—nearly twice as much as Africa as a whole and about three times as much as air travel. The industry portrays itself as “green” and considers concrete to be essential. Its social, environmental, economic, and societal impacts are enormous but largely overlooked.
