Der Fossil Fuel Treaty bringt neuen Wind in die zähe internationale Klimapolitik. Ziel dieser Initiative aus dem globalen Süden ist eine internationale Koalition von Staaten, die mit dem Ausstieg auf fossilen Brennstoffen voran gehen. Ein erster wichtiger Schritt zu einem internationalen Abkommen wurde bei einer Konferenz im April gegangen. Nun ist es wichtig auch in Deutschland bis nächstes Jahr Dynamik zu schaffen. Vorbilder dafür sind unter anderem lokale Initiativen in Bonn und Tübingen: Dort haben breite Bündnisse die kommunale Unterstützung des Treaty erreicht. Lasst ihn uns in viele weitere Städte bringen!

The Fossil Fuel Treaty is breathing new life into the stagnant field of international climate policy. The goal of this initiative from the Global South is to form an international coalition of countries that are taking the lead in phasing out fossil fuels. A first important step toward an international agreement was taken at an conference in April. Now it is important to build momentum in Germany by next year. Examples of this include local initiatives in Bonn and Tübingen: There, broad coalitions have secured municipal support for the Treaty. Let's bring it to many more cities!
