We live our digital existences inside a large glass house thanks to Big Tech's tracking, social media and government agencies observing our every action. We have a choice in how much information we leak, how easy we make it to be seen, and how transparent we are. We as individuals and as a community are not powerless in this struggle against digital surveillance and control.
In this talk, we want to provide a beginner's introduction to digital self-defense. We will cover fundamental principles around software choices, IT security and operation security. We will cover platforms like your desktop PC or smartphone, as well as common activies such as browsing, messaging and organizing.
After you have attended the talk, you will have a grasp on the many considerations to take when operating in the digital world and what tools and methods you can use to protect yourself and others.
Digital self-defense is solidarity. It does not just protect you but also everyone around you.

Aufgrund der Überwachung durch Big Tech, soziale Medien und Regierungsbehörden, die jede unserer Handlungen beobachten, leben wir unser digitales Leben in einem riesigen Glashaus. Wir haben die Wahl, wie viele Informationen wir preisgeben, wie leicht wir uns sichtbar machen und wie transparent wir sind. Wir als Einzelpersonen und als Gemeinschaft sind in diesem Kampf gegen digitale Überwachung und Kontrolle nicht machtlos.
In diesem Vortrag möchten wir eine Einführung in die digitale Selbstverteidigung für Anfänger bieten. Wir werden grundlegende Prinzipien rund um die Auswahl von Software, IT-Sicherheit und Operation Security behandeln. Dabei gehen wir auf Plattformen wie deinen Desktop-PC oder dein Smartphone sowie auf alltägliche Aktivitäten wie das Surfen im Internet, den Austausch von Nachrichten und die Organisation ein.
Nach dem Besuch des Vortrags werdet ihr ein Verständnis dafür haben, welche Aspekte ihr bei der Nutzung der digitalen Welt berücksichtigen müssen und welche Werkzeuge und Methoden ihr einsetzen könnt, um euch selbst und andere zu schützen.

Wir gehen auf Plattformen wie Ihren Desktop-PC oder Ihr Smartphone ein und besprechen gängige Aktivitäten wie das Surfen im Internet, den Austausch von Nachrichten und die Organisation von Daten.
