Exploring ties between Palestinian liberation and Egyptian revolutionary movements
2025-08-24 , Anti-imperialist Tent 2

The Palestinian people have been resisting occupation, erasure, and settler colonialism for over 78 years. In neighbouring Egypt, the Palestinian struggle for liberation has been a central point for many movements against the Egyptian state for decades. We want to look at the history of Egypt and ask us what we as internationalists can learn out of the experiences, successes and also the defeats in the Egyptian revolution. At the same time, we want to look into the historical ties between Palestinian struggle for liberation and Egyptian political movements. What has been the Egyptian state’s role in Palestine over the decades? Why is the Egyptian military dictatorship currently cracking down on Palestine solidarity and complicit in weapon delivery to Israel? How does Germany & the EU support the Egyptian dictatorship and what does this have to do with the genocide in Gaza? How can the Egyptian people play a role in the liberation of Palestine?

As Palestine Solidarity group we see ourselves as comrades in the fight for Palestinian liberation and solidarity as being embedded in a wider anti-imperial and anti-colonial understanding of the world. Acknowledging that people within the German climate justice movement have been socialized in a country where zionist perspective dominate, we aim to critically engage with the speechlessness of many in the German left concerning this topic and invited external groups to share their knowledge about the Palestinian struggle and beyond.
