Die Verkehrswende wird häufig als technische, industriepolitische oder finanzpolitische Frage, zum Beispiel in der Debatte um klimaschädliche Subventionen, verstanden. Ein wichtiger Baustein der Mobilitätswendedebatte ist jedoch auch die Frage von Gerechtigkeit, vor allem im Zugang zu und der Nutzung von Mobilitätsformen. Fragen von sozialer Teilhabe, Sexismus und Ableismus lassen sich anhand des Konzepts von Mobilitätsgerechtigkeit untersuchen und damit verstehen, dass es für eine sozial-ökologische Mobilitätswende mehr braucht als nur einen Ausbau von Schienennetzen oder eine Antriebswende hin zu E-Autos.

The transport transition is often seen as a technical, industrial policy or financial policy issue, for example in the debate on climate-damaging subsidies. However, an important component of the mobility transition debate is also the question of justice, especially in terms of access to and use of forms of mobility. Questions of social participation, sexism and rejectionism can be analysed using the concept of mobility justice and thus understand that a socio-ecological mobility transition requires more than just an expansion of rail networks or a shift towards electric cars.
