The Transatlantic Anti-LNG Network (comprising community members, grassroots groups, and NGOs on both sides of the Atlantic) has been in existence for over 3 1/2 years and can draw on a wealth of experience and point to significant achievements. During this time, U.S. fracking-based LNG has increasingly become a key geopolitical weapon that the Trump administration is deliberately using against Europe and its democracies. All of this comes at the expense of primarily BIPOC communities in so-called “sacrificed zones” in Texas and Louisiana, as well as the global climate (both atmospheric and political). The workshop will look back on the challenges and successes of the past as well as the current state of the resistance, and aims to discuss with participants ways to strengthen collaboration and identify future opportunities for transatlantic action against fracked LNG imports.

Seit über 3 1/2 Jahren existiert das transatlantische anti-LNG Netzwerk (bestehend aus Community Members, Grassroots Groups und NGOs auf beiden Seiten des Atlantik) und kann auf viele Erfahrungswerte zurückgreifen sowie signifikante Erfolge vorweisen. In dieser Zeit wurde US Fracking-LNG immer mehr zu einer zentralen geopolitischen Waffe, die die Trump-Administration ganz gezielt gegen Europa und seine Demokratien einsetzt. All das zu Lasten von vornehmlich BIPOC Communities in sogennaten Sacrificed Zones in Texas und Louisiana sowie des Weltklimas (sowohl atmosphärisch als auch politisch). Der Workshop blickt zurück auf die Herausforderungen und Erfolge der Vergangenheit sowie den aktuellen Zustands des Widerstands und möchte mit den Teilnehmer*innen eine stärkere Kollaboration sowie kommende Hooks für das transatlantische Aggieren gegen Fracking-LNG-Importe diskuttieren.
