Water Always Wins: Exploring graphicbased Storytelling on Water Justice
21.08.2025 , C4C 3

As the Beehive Design Collective is based in the US, we want to use this unique opportunity to crosspollinate and exchange ideas and approaches of our work with activists, artists and educators in the german climate movement. Our comrades at Klima*Kollektiv, together with artists across Germany, produce similar graphic campaigns for education as we do: "Verwurzelt im Widerstand" in 2018 or the latest pieces on "Water Justice" in 2024. Since the beginning of the year, a bunch of water activists and artists work on a new huge graphic campaign: WATER ALWAYS WINS! The goal is to create a educational tool for strengthening the global fight for our water against corporations, droughts and floods. With all interested people, we want to exchange experiences and explore designs and stories for creating powerful narratives and graphics on water struggles.

Klima*Kollektiv, Beehive Design Collective

The Beehive Design Collective is a wildly motivated, all-volunteer, activist arts collective dedicated to “cross-pollinating the grassroots” by creating collaborative, anti-copyright images for use as educational and organizing tools. We work as word-to-image translators of complex global stories, shared with us through conversations with affected communities.
Klima*Kollektiv is a small organization based in Cologne which is supporting the climate movement since ten years with trainings in storytelling, press work, regenerative activism and much more. They are working in the fields of action, education, alternatives. At the moment, they are building up resistance against watergrabbing.
