Let's Talk About Haiti
17.08.2025 , C4C 2 Englisch

This workshop explores the history and ongoing resistance of Haīti/Ayiti, the world’s first Black republic and the only nation born of a successful slave revolution. It examines how Haiti’s founding challenged global systems of white supremacy and empire, and how that resistance continues until today. Through key historical junctures, such as the French extortion of Haiti for its sovereignty, the 20th century U.S. occupation and the exploitation that followed the 2010 earthquake,we will engage with Haiti’s central role in Black internationalism and the broader struggles against colonialism, imperialism, and racial capitalism. The workshop also draws connections between Haiti and other liberation movements including the Palestinian struggle, and invites reflection on the principle that indeed “none of us are free until all of us are free”. This workshop is open to all, especially those new to Haitian history and looking to understand its global relevance today.
