From Nakba to Return
22.08.2025 , Anti-imperialistisches Zelt 2

This workshop offers an introduction to the Nakba — the mass displacement and dispossession of 750,000 Palestinians by zionist militias and later the IDF — and its ongoing reality until today. Through a presentation with photos, maps, quotes, and historical material, we'll go through the history of systematic ethnic cleansing, the deception surrounding the UN Partition Plan, and the far-reaching consequences of the Nakba for Palestinian society. In this context, we'll also discuss the centrality of rememberence and a right to return for Palestinian refugees.

No prior knowledge is required — the workshop is designed to be accessible to anyone interested. At the end there will be time for questions and discussion.

With Umar al-Ghubari (Political educator, part of Zochrot, an NGO based in Israel working on education around the Nakba & advocating for the right of return)

As Palestine Solidarity group we see ourselves as comrades in the fight for Palestinian liberation and solidarity as being embedded in a wider anti-imperial and anti-colonial understanding of the world. Acknowledging that people within the German climate justice movement have been socialized in a country where zionist perspective dominate, we aim to critically engage with the speechlessness of many in the German left concerning this topic and invited external groups to share their knowledge about the Palestinian struggle and beyond.
