DESCRIPTION:The fight for climate justice and peace in the DR Congo (DRC) i
 s forced to the sidelines in Western climate movements. However\, their st
 ories are intricately linked with ours: Without justice in the DRC\, there
  can be no transition to clean energy. Without solidarity with our Congole
 se comrades\, we miss seeing the bigger picture. And solidarity starts her
 e in our country: European companies such as Glencore directly take part i
 n the illegal mining in the DRC\, fueling the genocidal M23 in exchange fo
 r profit. In this workshop\, climate justice activists from the DR Congo (
 DRC) will share their stories of local and global climate justice and peac
 e activism. They mount large campaigns resisting against massive oil and g
 as auctions and against the brutal exploitation of their minerals. Also Eu
 ropean and German companies such as Siemens or „Total“ expand their fo
 ssil exploitation in Africa and therefore further escalate the climate cri
 sis. At the same time\, these drc climate justice activists work directly 
 with affected communities\, planting trees with school classes and providi
 ng support to victims of sexualized violence. You're invited to listen and
  reflect on how their experience can inform your own climate justice advoc
 acy. You will get a chance to exchange with others about decolonial intern
 ational activism and international solidarity.
