DESCRIPTION:In dieser Veranstaltung geht es um die Anfänge der Futtermitte
 limporte in Deutschland im Zusammenhang mit der sogenannten "ersten Global
 isierung" in der Zeit von 1870-1914. Wir wollen verstehen\, warum Deutschl
 and zu dieser Zeit begann\, nennenswert Futtermittel aus dem Ausland zu im
 portieren. Es wird sich herausstellen\, dass sowohl die damalige deutsche 
 Agrarstruktur im Kontext internationaler Märkte als auch Deutschlands Sel
 bstverständnis im zeitgenössischen globalen Kapitalismus und den kolonia
 len Ausbeutungsverhältnissen eine wichtige Rolle gespielt haben. Falls Ze
 it ist\, gibt es dann noch einen Ausblick auf den Zeitraum bis 1960. In je
 dem Fall wird sich herausstellen\, dass die Situation vor über 100 Jahren
  und die heutige Situation interessante Parallelen aufweist. Die Veranstal
 tung ist in deutscher Sprache und erfordert keine Vorkenntnisse - alle wer

 s event focuses on the beginnings of feed imports in Germany in connection
  with the so-called “first globalization” in the period from 1870 to 1
 914. We want to understand why Germany began to import significant amounts
  of animal feed from abroad at this time. It will become clear that both t
 he German agricultural structure at that time in the context of internatio
 nal markets and Germany's self-image in contemporary global capitalism and
  colonial exploitation played an important role. If there is time\, we wil
 l also look at the period up to 1960. In any case\, it will become clear t
