Millionen Hektar Land in Südamerika sind heute mit Soja-Monokulturen bedeckt – angebaut für die globale Tierindustrie. Der Anbau zerstört Ökosysteme, vergiftet Böden und Gewässer und verdrängt Menschen von ihrem Land. Über 11.000 Kilometer weit wird das Soja dann nach Europa transportiert – kommt im Braker Hafen an und landet auch hier als Futtermittel in Mastanlagen, schafft neue Umweltprobleme.

Gemeinsam mit Vertreter*innen von AbL, aktion.agrar, „Gemeinsam gegen die Tierindustrie“ und der Forscherin Evelyn Araripe diskutieren wir, wie Sojaimporte mit Themen wie Abholzung, Weservertiefung und dem geplanten Mercosur-Abkommen verknüpft sind. Welche Verantwortung liegt bei uns? Und wie kann eine zukunftsfähige Landwirtschaft aussehen?

Millions of hectares of land in South America are now covered with soybean monocultures – grown for the global animal industry. This cultivation destroys ecosystems, poisons soil and water, and displaces people from their land. The soy is then transported over 11,000 kilometers to Europe, arriving at the port of Brake, where it ends up as feed in fattening facilities, creating new environmental problems.

Together with representatives from AbL, aktion.agrar, “Gemeinsam gegen die Tierindustrie” (Together Against the Animal Industry) and researcher Evelyn Araripe, we discuss how soy imports are linked to issues such as deforestation, the deepening of the Weser River, and the planned Mercosur agreement. What responsibility do we have? And what could sustainable agriculture look like?
